Mayer Fuchs (VTHS class of ’97) was spending Shabbos afternoon with his family in there apartment in Ramat Eshkol when there was an emphatic knock at the door. Their ninety year old neighbor is in her apartment and not responding – and there is smoke coming from her apartment! Mayer tried the front door, a metal reinforced triple locked door, and could not get in. So, he grabbed his power grinder, crowbar and a hammer. He climbed on the porch of the apartment below and started cutting through the window bars with his power grinder. He squeezed through bars, smashed the glass with his hammer and climbed in to find his neighbor unconscious by the front door of her apartment. the fire department came just in time to greet him as he opened the door of her apartment. After some first-aid she recovered and our hero returned to his family to continue is Shabbos menucha. (As reported in Mishpacha Magazine.)
