Goodbye Class of 2015

by Dr. Eliezer Jones

Today is the unofficial last day for our senior class. They have a senior trip to attend, some finals and then graduation, but today will be the last day of a regular schedule for them. I have not known them for four years, but I am happy I got to know them for their final year. They are a special group of students who in so many ways modeled what it means to be at VTHS student. So, given that this is the day we will unofficially say goodbye, I wanted to share my senior letter that was submitted for the 2015 yearbook. Good luck class of 2015 and I am confident you will continue to be a model for our school, community and the world.

Here is the letter:

Dear Class of 2015

The time has come to send off the graduating class of 2015 and wish them well in their futures!  It is an honor to be able to reflect on their growth. Though this last year of theirs was the first I had the opportunity to share in, most of them had four years of learning, smiling, achieving and bonding together as a class and as part of the VTHS family. They have a deep connection that I can only truly appreciate a fraction of. As they prepare to leave these hallowed halls, let the description of my limited time with them be a testament to how unique and impressive this group of students is.

Over the past year I have watched the senior class work devoutly in their Torah Studies and diligently in their General Studies, Yeshiva and College applications and yes, even their Principal Projects. I have watched them support each other in and out of school, on and off the basketball court, and even from hundreds of miles away on Shabbaton, tournaments and trips. They have been role models for the lower classman, and they are a graduating class to be proud of.

I am confident that the lessons, skills, support and guidance that they received here at Valley Torah will propel them far. These things they carry away with them combined with their innate abilities and high character will secure them great places among the future leaders of the Jewish people. Graduating class of 2015, you will all be missed, and while I hope I have served you well as your General Studies Principal my only regret is I only got to do so for your senior year.

I wish you only success and in the name of the great Dr. Seuss I bid you farewell be your name Aaron, Daniel, David O., David S., Eden, Julian, Miad, Moshe, Raphy, Sam, Simcha, Shawn, Shaya, Shmuel, Yehuda, Yonah, or Yoni,

you’re off to Great Places!

Today is your day!

Your mountain is waiting.

So….get on your way!
