VTHS vs. YULA Game Tomorrow

The Valley Torah varsity basketball team has advanced to the next round of the Milken Tournament and will be facing off with YULA for the overall 3rd place spot.

The game will be held on Thursday (Nov 29) at 6:00 PM in the Milken Community High School gym.

Valley Torah’s Got Talent

The recent Annual Dinner was an opportunity to showcase some of the talent Valley Torah students and alumni possess.

Isaac Mizrahi (’03) sang while accompanied by Rabbi Moshe Samuels (’97) on piano.

Current students, Gabi Sipen and Judith Leserman played piano and viola.

Refusnik Yosef Mendelevich at VTHS

Rabbi Yosef Mendelevich visited the Boys Division and addressed the students and staff. He told the moving story of how he embraced the latent power of his Judaism while suffering in a KGB prison.

VTHS Alumni Dominate YU Sports

At this years’ Yeshiva University Maccabee Athletics banquet Valley Torah High School alumni walked away with 10 awards.

Jake Frankel (’09) just finished his 1st year at YU and leads the Maccabee Baseball team in hits, doubles and RBI’s, and is tied for triples, earning him a spot on the CUNY Second Team All Conference. He is also the winner of this years’ prestigious Silver Slugger award. He returns this season as captain.
Yitzy Frankel (’06), (unrelated) is captain of the Fencing Team, where he is YU’s 2nd ever USFA  rated fencer and 3 time regional qualifier. This year he won the Coach’s Award for Men’s Saber, and was awarded the Aaron Meyer Dedication to Athletics Award. This award is presented annually to the student-athlete who “Best demonstrates the spirit, selflessness, and dedication to their team and the athletics program.” Frankel is this year’s Student Athletic Advisory Committee President (SAAC), and he has played a large role in the reemergence of the committee, as well as the fundraising efforts of the Athletic Department.
Benny Silver (’10) just finished his first year on the YU Basketball Team and is looking to make an impact next year. He is also on the Deans’ List.
Dovie Hoffman (’08), a Yeshiva University senior, was awarded this years’ Coaches Award for the second year in a row as well as one player of the week honor and earning a spot on the second team all Skyline Conference team. He averaged a team best 15 ppg, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks a game. This year he returns as Captain of the Basketball Team where he is on pace to reach the 1000 point milestone by next season.
