Last week’s Student of the Week was Elan Perchik (my apologies for not posting earlier).
Yom Iyun and Flowers
Before Shavuos the Girls Division had a Yom Iyun highlighting the Yom Tov. Rabbi Asher Biron, Rabbi Zev Rauch, Rabbi Yonah Solomon and Mrs. Miriam Rosenbluth were educational facilitators.
The Yom Iyun was followed by an art project to make beautiful flower centerpieces. Many thanks to the Granovits family for providing the flowers.
As a special project for the 12th graders, Mrs. Hedy Harris, the art teacher, demonstrated to the girls on how to make edible centerpieces using vegetables.

How Wet is the Mist Trail?
If you were wondering just how wet Yosemite’s Mist Trail really is, this short video from the Shabbaton will give you an idea.
Back Home
Tuesday 2:45
We returned to Valley Torah a bit sleep-deprived, but earlier than expected. This should give each of the boys time to catch-up on their sleep so they can make it to school tomorrow at 7:45 (yes, it is a regular school day with a regular schedule).
All the pictures from the Shabbaton can be seen at vths.fotki.com.
On the Way Home
Tuesday 10:05
We just left Oakhurst for Los Angeles. Our ETA is just after 3:00 PM
Mist Trail
Overheard on the Mist Trail (said by a teenager): “This is the most exciting thing I have ever done in my life.” The Mist Trail did not disappoint us this time. It was a steep climb up the side of a granite mountain while being blasted by the spray from Vernal Falls. The pictures speak louder than words.

Exciting day
Sunday 9:00
We finally arrived at the hotel in Oakhurst after a very long day. We drove through the Yosemite Valley and visited Yosemite Falls. The falls were roaring! As we were there, it began to rain. At higher elevations, it was snowing and the road to Oakhurst was closed. The detour added about two hours to our travels.
We are waiting for the coals to warm up on the grill so we can have our dogs and burgers.
More news and pictures soon.
